Full container or shared container

  • Full container (FCL). You book a whole 20ft or 40ft container for your goods only. It's loaded at your address or our warehouse, sealed, and only opened at customs. Best for house moves, vehicles and business stock.

  • Shared container (LCL). Your goods share a container with other customers' cargo, and you pay only for the space you use. Best for a few pieces of furniture, appliances or a room's worth of belongings.

Full or shared containers to Antigua

A full container (FCL) is a 20ft or 40ft container for your goods only, sealed in the UK until customs in St John's. It is ideal for house moves, holiday homes, vehicles and business stock. A shared container (LCL) lets you ship a smaller load and pay only for the space it uses.

A 20ft container usually holds a one- to two-bedroom home; a 40ft holds a three- to four-bedroom home or a car with household goods.

How it works

  1. Get a quote. Send your list, UK postcode and Antigua address through our contact form or call 020 3086 7592.
  2. Loading or collection. We bring an empty container for FCL, collect your items for LCL, or you drop off at our Barking warehouse.
  3. Export and sailing. We prepare the export paperwork and the container sails from a UK port such as Southampton, Felixstowe or London Gateway.
  4. Arrival. The container arrives at the Deep Water Harbour in St John's and is cleared by the Customs and Excise Division.
  5. Delivery. We deliver to your door anywhere in Antigua, and to Barbuda on request.

Shipping times to St John's

Container shipping from the UK to Antigua usually takes 4 to 6 weeks door to door, depending on the sailing and customs clearance. Allow extra time for Barbuda. We confirm the sailing date when you book.

Where we deliver

We deliver across Antigua, including St John's, Jolly Harbour, English Harbour, Falmouth, All Saints, Liberta, Parham and Willikies, and to Codrington on Barbuda on request.

Customs and returning nationals

You will need a detailed packing list with values and a copy of your passport. Import duty, ABST and other charges may apply depending on the goods.

Returning Antiguan and Barbudan nationals may qualify for duty concessions on household and personal effects, and in some cases a vehicle. Check your eligibility with the Customs and Excise Division before you ship, and tell us when you book.

Good to know for Antigua

St John's is a regional shipping hub, so sailings to Antigua are frequent. That makes Antigua a good choice for shared (LCL) shipments, which may be able to join an earlier sailing.

What you can and can't pack

Furniture, appliances, clothing, tools, building materials and non-perishable food are all fine. Do not pack firearms or ammunition, illegal drugs, flammable items, counterfeit goods or perishable food. Medicines, plants, seeds, meat and dairy need permits.

Container, barrels or a vehicle?

A container is best value for large volumes; for smaller amounts, barrels are usually cheaper. Cars can travel in a container; see vehicle shipping. See all our Caribbean shipping services.
